Pro 1.1.0

Vinyl Lettering Designer Pro: from approved design to installed lettering

The free plugin gets the order and the cutting files to your workshop. Pro runs what happens next: a proof the customer approves, a board that shows where every job is, a job sheet at the machine, batches nested on your vinyl roll and installation instructions for the customer.

Requires the free Vinyl Lettering Designer plugin and WooCommerce.

One flow, from order to installation

The free plugin does the first half, Pro the second. Everything runs inside your WordPress admin.

  1. 1. Order Free

The customer designs at real size and orders. The design is stored with the order line.

  2. 2. Proof Pro

You send a proof. The customer approves it, or asks for changes, from a link.

  3. 3. Production Pro

The job moves across the board. At the machine you have the job sheet and the cutting files from the free plugin, one per foil colour.

  4. 4. Installation Pro

The Completed e-mail tells the customer how to apply it, with the size of each item.

Before you cut

Proof approval

Send the customer a proof of the design. They approve it or ask for changes on a private page opened from a link, without logging in. By default a job can only go into production after the customer approved the latest proof (on for a new install; you can turn it off).

  • A private page from a link, without a login
  • Approve, or describe what should change
  • Proof versions: a newer proof replaces the older link, so nobody approves a design that has been replaced
  • The answer is stored with the job and added to the order
  • Approval gate, on by default: no production before the latest proof is approved (you can turn it off)

What it replaces: the e-mail thread of “is this right?” with a picture attached. Proof approval guide

Production board

Every designed order item becomes a job on a board with a column per status. Change a status with a menu or by dragging. Filters, bulk status changes, an assignee and a due date per job, and a private order note on every status change. Open orders (processing / on hold) placed before Pro was installed can be imported.

  • Statuses that follow a sign shop: New, Proof sent, Changes requested, Approved, Cutting, Weeding, Ready, Shipped, Installed, Cancelled
  • Filters on material, colour, deadline and assignee
  • Bulk status changes and bulk job sheets
  • Every status change leaves a private note on the order

Job sheets with QR code

Print an A4 job sheet per job, with a QR code that opens the job on the board in your WordPress admin.

  • Job and order, customer, size, material, colours per layer, quantity, deadline and assignee on one page
  • A check list for cutting, weeding, taping and a final check, with a field for initials
  • Scan the QR code to open the job on the board and change its status

Installation text in the Completed e-mail

WooCommerce's Completed order e-mail includes your installation instructions, the guide and video links from the free plugin's settings, and the size of each designed item.

Licence and automatic updates

Activate your licence key once on your site. After that Pro keeps working, also when the licence expires; an active licence gives updates through the normal WordPress update screen.

Batches, nesting and rolls

New in Pro 1.1: cut several jobs in one go and keep track of the vinyl you have left.

Batch export with nesting

Select jobs on the board and create a batch (WooCommerce > Batches). The layers of those jobs are placed on your roll width in one SVG, ready to download for your cutter. Nesting is simple shelf packing on the bounding boxes of the layers, with 0 and 90 degree rotation; it is not an optimal packing. A batch has one material and one foil colour: layers with another colour or material are listed as left out. Re-nest with another roll width or gap, download the batch SVG, then finish the batch, or undo it while it is still a draft. A job with several layers moves to Cutting only when all of its layers are cut.

Rolls and stock

Add your vinyl rolls with material, foil colour, width and remaining length (WooCommerce > Rolls). Choose a roll on a draft batch; finishing the batch books the batch length plus a margin from the roll (a setting with a default of 50 mm, or a margin of its own per roll). A low-stock notice appears in the Pro screens when a roll falls under its threshold; an e-mail to the shop admin is optional and off by default.

Usage report

Material used per month, per material and foil colour, with a CSV export. A job that is cancelled or refunded after its layers were cut is marked as waste.

  • One batch SVG on your roll width, ready to download for your cutter
  • Shelf packing on the bounding boxes with 0 and 90 degree rotation (not an optimal packing)
  • One material and one foil colour per batch; other layers are listed as left out
  • Finishing a batch books its length plus a margin from the roll; undo while it is a draft
  • A multi-layer job moves to Cutting only when all of its layers are cut

Built on what the free plugin already does for production

Pro does not replace the free plugin's files. It organises the work around them.

Multi-colour, ready to cut

The free plugin gives you one cutting SVG per foil colour with a weed box and registration marks, so the layers line up exactly. Pro's job sheet lists those layers per job.

Files per layer

The download buttons on the order (cutting SVG, one SVG per colour layer, print PDF) stay where they are. Pro adds proof and board actions next to them.

A surcharge per extra colour

Priced in the free plugin when you switch it on, and visible to the customer. The extra work of multi-colour jobs does not end up unpaid.

Who it is for

Pro is for shops that cut, apply or ship lettering themselves and want the steps after the order in one place: sign shops, vehicle and window lettering makers, and sticker shops with more than a handful of orders in progress at once. If you only sell lettering and cut it on the day, the free plugin may be all you need.

What changes in daily work

  • You no longer collect approvals from e-mails: the answer is on the job.
  • Everyone in the workshop sees the same board, with who is on a job and when it is due.
  • The machine operator gets a sheet with a QR code instead of a printed order list.
  • The customer gets the application instructions without you writing them each time.

Pro questions

Is Pro available yet?

Yes. Pro 1.1.0 is available.

Do I need the free plugin?

Yes. Pro is an add-on: it needs the free Vinyl Lettering Designer plugin and WooCommerce. The free plugin keeps all of its features; Pro only adds.

How many sites can I use it on?

Pro: 1 site. Business: 5 sites. Agency: unlimited sites. Lifetime: 1 site. Every plan contains all Pro features. On a multisite network each site needs its own activation and counts towards the plan.

What happens when my licence ends?

Pro keeps working. Renew the licence to keep receiving updates.

Does a customer need an account to approve a proof?

No. The customer opens a private link from the e-mail and approves the proof or asks for changes without logging in.

Is approval mandatory?

By default, yes: Require approval before production is on for a new install, so a job cannot move to Cutting or any later production status until the customer approved the latest proof. You can turn the setting off if you want proofs as an agreement only.

What if a customer asks for changes?

The job moves to Changes requested and you get an e-mail with their comment. You send a new proof version, optionally with a corrected design as an SVG file. The older link then stops working, so the customer can only approve the latest version.

How good is the nesting?

Simple shelf packing on the bounding boxes of the layers, with 0 and 90 degree rotation. It is not an optimal packing, and you can re-nest with another roll width or gap. A batch holds one material and one foil colour; layers with another colour or material are listed as left out.

Does Pro order or track vinyl for me?

Pro keeps the remaining length of the rolls you add, books each finished batch (length plus a margin) from the roll, shows a low-stock notice and can send an optional e-mail, which is off by default. It does not order vinyl from a supplier and it does not sync stock with WooCommerce products.

What about orders from before I installed Pro?

Use Import open orders on the board: it creates jobs for orders that are already Processing or On hold, up to 200 orders per run, without creating duplicates.

What does Lifetime include?

A one-time payment with updates and support for as long as the product is maintained. Lifetime is limited to 50 licences.

Which licence is the code under?

Free and Pro are both licensed under the GPLv2 or later. A Pro licence key gives you updates and support for the paid period. It is personal and not transferable.

Can I get a refund?

There is a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase. Yearly plans can be cancelled at any time; the running year is not refunded beyond the guarantee. See the terms.

What data does the licence check send?

Only the licence key, the domain of your site and the plugin version are sent to the licence server (twilper.com), when the licence is checked and when updates are checked. Terms
