Pro: production board

One card per designed order item, in a column per status: what is waiting, what is on the cutter, what is ready to ship.

Pro 1.1.0. The production board is part of Vinyl Lettering Designer Pro. Creating jobs needs a one-time licence activation.

Jobs from orders

When an order reaches Processing, On hold or Completed, Pro creates one job for every item that has a design from the free plugin. Creating a job twice never happens. When an order is cancelled, refunded or failed, its jobs are cancelled, except jobs that are already Shipped or Installed: those stay as a record. Each card shows what the workshop needs: the order, customer, product, size, material, colours and quantity, with a thumbnail of the design.

Statuses

The columns follow the workflow of a sign shop:

StatusMeaning
NewThe job was created from an order.
Proof sentA proof is with the customer.
Changes requestedThe customer asked for changes.
ApprovedThe customer approved the proof.
CuttingOn the cutter.
WeedingBeing weeded.
ReadyFinished, waiting for pickup, shipping or installation.
ShippedOn its way to the customer.
InstalledApplied at the customer.
CancelledThe job will not be produced.

Require approval before production is on by default on a new install. While it is on, a job cannot move to Cutting or later until the latest proof is approved.

Moving a job

Change a status with the menu on the card and Apply (this works with the keyboard and without JavaScript), or drag the card to another column. If someone else changed the job just now, the board asks you to reload instead of overwriting their change.

Filters

  • Material and main colour.
  • Deadline: overdue, due today, due within 7 days or no deadline.
  • Assignee: a person, or anyone.
  • Show finished jobs: finished columns are hidden until you turn this on.
  • All jobs of one order (open the board from the order).

Bulk actions

Select jobs and set a status or an assignee for all of them at once, or print job sheets for the selection (see job sheets). The board reports how many jobs changed and how many did not, with the reason.

Assignee and due date

Every job can have an assignee (a WordPress user who may manage production jobs) and a due date. The due date feeds the deadline filter and appears on the card and on the job sheet.

Import open orders

Orders placed before Pro was active have no jobs. Import open orders creates jobs for orders that are already Processing or On hold, up to 200 orders per run. Running it again never creates duplicates, and if there are more orders you run it again for the next set.

Order notes

Every status change adds a private note to the order, so the history of a job is also visible on the WooCommerce order.

Batches and rolls

Since Pro 1.1 you can select jobs on the board and cut them together in a batch, nested on the width of your vinyl roll, and keep the remaining length of each roll. See Batches, nesting and rolls. A job with several layers moves to Cutting through a batch only when all of its layers are cut.
